There are places on Earth where the Milky Way in the night sky, is fragmented into clouds so bright to dimly illuminate the ground around, places where the stars seem closer, almost within reach. Unfortunately for most of us, residents of polluted cities, that extraordinary celestial spectacle is inaccessible and far, far away.
Astronomers hunting for planets orbiting stars similar to our Sun, are increasingly concentrating on finding rocky bodies like Earth in habitable zones (see article), where conditions of temperature and liquid water are sufficiently stable to allow the development of life.
